Pyra Labs was founded in San Francisco, USA in 1999. Pyra Lab's first product, named Pyra, was a web application for project management, to-do lists and contacts. In August 1999 it was repurposed to become Blogger, a free blog publishing software. It was after this product that the term 'blogger' was coined. Pyra Labs was acquired by Google in 2003.
